It was photos of waterfalls that inspired my first photos and they continue to be a mesmerizing force for my camera.

Panther Tears

Upper Panther Creek Falls Columbia River Gorge, Washington There are so many waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge that it’s easy to lose count of how many there are, how many you’ve been to, and which ones are left to visit. Panther Creek Falls is one of the more photographed falls, though you’ll rarely ever find anyone here (due to its somewhat remote location, and steep hike down). I actually find it an extremely hard waterfall to photograph. It’s wide, it curves around in almost a horseshoe like shape, there’s logs and trees blocking the falls (we joked that someone should cut down that tree on the left ... no, we weren’t serious!), and it needs a lot of water to really fully gush all the way around. Willie, Zack, and I took turns taking photos of this falls from further to my left, but I decided I wanted a composition I hadn’t already photographed, and showed a bit more of the waterfalls (the left loses the best cascades that you see here), and settled for this one.
