Puzzle Pieces
Snow on river Banff National Park, Canada Willie and I don't typically stop at all of the touristy spots on our photo trips, unless the tourist spot is something amazingly spectacular. Banff, though, has a number of beautiful locations just a few minutes outside of town, and the Bow River and Bow Falls are one of those spots everyone should at least visit when in town. A big snow storm meant that Willie and I were confined to stay near the actual town of Banff. While we did have an all-wheel drive vehicle, the road conditions weren't looking promising for exploring too far. We took advantage of the snow and decided to drive down to Bow Falls and also visit the Fairmont Hotel. There's a view of the Fairmont from the other side of the Bow River, looking back at the hotel with beautiful mountains in the background. The hotel was completely clouded over but the Bow River looked beautiful in its blanket of snow. The cascading rocks in the river were covered in white and looked like amazing puzzle pieces. I put on the big lens and took some more intimate photos with the water rushing by the pieces of snowy puzzle. Nikon D800 w/Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8: 170mm, f/22, 1/4 sec, ISO 64
