Canada Day Fireworks over Mt. Rundle Banff National Park, Canada I first visited Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada in November with Willie. Both of us fell instantly in love with the area (just drive around for 15 minute and you’ll see why). I returned a few months later to ski with some friends and knew I’d need a few more trips back to explore more of the area. Wanting to share Banff with Sammi, we decided to spend our 4th of July long weekend exploring the area in the summer when the snow wouldn’t prevent us from hiking around and exploring. We never realized that July 1st is “Canada Day” and there’d be fireworks to watch! When I found out where the fireworks were being launched from (the town square) I knew that I’d be able to watch them explode from across the other side of Vermillion Lakes. We met a number of other photographers and we all battled the mosquitos as best as we could while trying to enjoy the show — and sure enough it was quite a nice fireworks show!
