Bayou Lurker
Willie, David, Carolyn and I planned to spend most of our time in the south hanging around a couple different bayou's. This particular lake was known to have some of the bigger trees and although we rented kayak's to explore the lake, we only paddled around here on one evening.
These trees are awesome to see. As we paddled around we kept thinking "damn! that's impressive!" Photographing them turned out to be a little more challenging than we had originally expected. Finding a group of trees that separates themselves with gaps between them proved to be more difficult. We kept paddling further and further out into the lake to see if we could find a better grove.
As the sun started to set we got excited that the light might "blow up" and give us beautiful colors. We had wanted to photograph a particular set of trees if that happened, but just before Willie turned back and ditched me, I noticed the heron hiding amongst this particular tree. I stopped long enough to snap a few photos of the tree and the heron before turning back. (Sunset turned out to be mostly a dud).
