Good Morning Scottie
Sunrise over Oak Tree and Hills Silicon Valley, California The Bay Area has a lot of things nearby to photograph. If you're willing to take a long drive you can go visit National Parks like Yosemite, Death Valley and Sequoia. Closer to home you can always photograph San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, or the beaches and sea stacks along the coast. But sometimes you just want to roll out of bed, and not spend an 2 hours roundtrip driving. Willie and I have been exploring some spots closer to home for those lazy days. In the winter the oak trees make for great subjects. They develop these gnarly shapes that are visible when there's no leaves on the trees. After a rain storm the hills turn green and it just takes a nice sunrise for the scenes to look juicy. Willie and I had previously photographed this spot but I had sent in my main camera for a sensor cleaning and had to fall for a lower resolution backup camera at the time. On this morning we trudged back out with my main camera returned to capture a higher resolution version. The tree here reminds me of a satellite dish, waiting to beam out its good morning message.
